A fantastic African experience communicating a culture from an Australian perspective. This show suits classrooms from Prep to Grade 7 who are learning about Africa.
Renata went on an exciting trip to Africa collecting songs, stories, artifacts and taking photographs of everyday life there. She was amazed by the cultural differences Africa has in comparison to Australian tradition. She met many African people, saw amazing animals and played her guitar to children in East Africa. Renata also found a ‘Djembe’ Drum and learnt a fun African animal game! Her new found African stories and songs are enjoyed during this show through the help of the students. This show is communicated through Renata’s own observations, and the music, percussion, artefacts, storytelling and enlarged photos help to depict what African life is really like.
This show has a great resource to compliment your African multicultural programs, for $4.99 on ibooks you can get Renata’s African iBook called “The Cheeky Kima.” This smart board or iPad resource has 3 parts: Part 1- a beautifully illustrated African story that the children can act out. Part 2 is about the author and fantastic pictures and facts about African animals, and part 3 is the African “Jambo Bwana” song with the actions for your classroom.
All show scripts are altered to communicate important messages from each show to primary prep to grade 7, OSCH’s, childcare and family day care groups.
